Board of Directors
The Board of Directors for Community Alternatives Inc. is a group of volunteer, non-compensated individuals who are committed to the organization's mission and vision. Board members are nominated by community members, CAI staff, other current or past board members and community stakeholders. They are elected by a majority vote of the board.
Board members serve three-year terms and may serve two consecutive terms. Board officers are nominated and elected by a majority vote of the board and hold their office for one-year terms. The full CAI Board meets on a quarterly basis, with sub-committee and special meetings scheduled throughout the year.
The CAI Board determines the mission and strategic direction of the organization. They are in charge of establishing a clear organizational mission, developing the strategic plan and evaluating the plan's progress. The board is also responsible for supervision and support of the executive director and ensuring financial solvency of the organization, as well as instituting a fair system of policies and procedures for the organization.
